The meeting was called to order by President Janis Ward, who led the Pledge of Allegiance.

3 new members were introduced.


The members were reminded that minutes of past meetings can be found on The Nurses Club web site.  Nancy Rush made a motion to approve the minutes of the March meeting.  The motion was seconded by Joann Hisey and approved by all.


Lorraine Daniels announced the treasury stands at $3685.15.


Faye Davis described the plans for the May celebration on May 9, in the Savannah Center.  A dedication will be made in the theater at 12 PM, as well as announcing the name of the scholarship winner, the Candle Song and the Nightingale pledge. The luncheon will take place in the Atlanta and Ashley Wilkes rooms at which time tickets must be presented.  Tickets can still be purchased by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Pat Keeney or Vicki De Shaw. The featured speaker will be Pastor Paul Mickelson.

Nancy Rush described the tour of LifeStream, and announced the tour of Langley Medical Center will be held on May 2 at 10 AM.


The 2017 Celebration of Nurses will be held on April 20 in Ocala at the livestock pavilion.

Peggy Russo introduced today’s speaker, Dr. James Mersey, MD.  Dr. Mersey spoke about Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (Autoimmune Thyroid Disease).  The presentation was well-received and was followed by a question and answer session.


The 50/50 raffle was held.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 2:05 PM.
